Number One spot means NDC will win first round - Gen. Mosquito

General Secretary of the ruling NDC Asiedu Nketia says that the number one spot President John Dramani Mahama has been placed on the ballot paper indicates a one touch victory for the party in the upcoming December Polls.

The NDC secured the top spot on the ballot paper after Friday afternoon’s balloting at the Electoral Commission to determine the positioning of the candidates.

Speaking to XYZ News after the balloting, an elated Asiedu Nketia is optimistic that it will manifest into the 2012 general elections.

He said the work done by the NDC coupled with the goodwill shown to President Mahama across the country, there is no doubt that the party was going to win the election, adding that the position on the ballot paper is just a confirmation of what the party already knows.

Meanwhile, Chairman of the opposition New Patriotic Party Jake Obetsebi Lamptey, who commended the EC for a transparent exercise says that where a candidate is placed on the ballot paper is immaterial because in 2000, the NPP won the elections even when the party's candidate was placed at the bottom of the ballot paper.

The party’s flagbearer, Nana Akufo-Addo, has also stated that the he is unperturbed by his position on the ballot paper. He told media men in Sunyani where he is currently campaigning that he is certain of victory despite all the interpretations given to his position on the ballot paper.
