Nzema chiefs debunk NDC lies

The Chiefs and People of Kegyina a farming community and a suburb of Axim in the Nzema East Municipality of the Western region have expressed misgivings about rumours of a purported attack on the sitting member of parliamentary for Evalue-Gwira, Madam Catherine Afeku.
Chief of Kegyina, Nana Asaba IV, noted that his community has received bad publicity from sections of the media that his people staged a violent demonstration that resulted in pelting of stones against the incumbent Member of Parliament (MP) who stormed the town last weekend to interact with the chiefs and people.
The Chief and his elders at a community meeting held last Tuesday fingered and chided one Mr. Armstrong Cobbinah, a teacher in the community who is alleged to be a staunch member of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) for orchestrating the supposed bad image against the town.
The Chief debunked the media publication saying that there was no such incident as alleged by the media occurred.
“We the people of Kegyina are at peace with our MP who has been very helpful to us over the past years and would never do such a thing against her, what has been put out by the local media is just a ploy to destabilize the long standing good relationship that has existed between the town and Madam Afeku,” Nana Asaba IV maintained.
Nana Asaba on behalf of his people called on all well-meaning citizens of the area and the country to treat the alleged demonstration against Madam Afeku as false and encouraged the MP to continue serving her people without fear or favour.
He further charged Mr. Armstrong to as a matter of urgency retract the lies against the entire community.
Mr. Armstrong however has denied being the brain behind the rumour.
On her part, a member of the council of elders in the community who gave her name as Auntie Yaba, challenged Mr. Armstrong Cobbina who happens to be a resident of the town to come out to clear himself from the mess that he is has put the chiefs and people in within the next seven days or they (women) will be compelled to go naked to show their displeasure.
She added that Mr. Armstrong’s move was just to earn a political point for his NDC in the area and warned him to desist from meddling in activities that would not yield any good results for him as a young man.
A member from the office of the Member of Parliament (MP) for the area by name as Frankoo told this writer that the NPP was poised of win the seat notwithstanding the frustrations meted out against the incumbent MP.
He urged the people of Evalue-Gwira to remain focused and vote massively for Madam Afeku come December 7, 2012, since her track record has proven to an enviable one.
