Hajj: Three female pilgrims to be deported for fraud

Three Ghanaian female pilgrims have been detained in Saudi Arabia for travelling with fake visas. Public Relations officer of the Hajj Committee, Halidu Haruna told XYZ NEWS the agent involved has been identified by the committee.

According to him the detained pilgrims will be deported tonight (Tuesday night).

Explaining the incident to XYZ News, Alhaji Haruna said the committee “received an information from the Saudi Authorities that three of the Ghanaian women who have been airlifted to Suadi Arabia yesterday (Monday) have been detained on the basis that they were not travelling on National Hajj Committee.”

He said it has been established that the visas in question do not belong to the Committee. He said when the three women are deported, investigations will be undertaken to verify the identity of the individual to get to the bottom of the fraud.

“This is fraud in my humble opinion. I believe that somebody decides to be fraudulent, there are laws that you have to invoke. As a committee, we are not going to that to happen,” Alhaji Haruna said adding “I believe that somebody must be used as a scapegoat as a deterrent.”

He said these actions bring shame to Islam and very inimical to the image of the religion which eschews such irresponsible and reckless actions.
