President John Dramani Mahama on Friday said election 2012 slated for December would not disrupt the Christmas festivities and celebrations.
He said: “I know that this year, the NDC members will come out to vote massively for the party and there will not be the need to go for a second or third round like we experienced in 2008 general election.”
President Mahama, who was addressing the chiefs and people of Kpetoe in the Agotime-Ziope constituency of the Volta Region as part of his three-day campaign tour of the Region, said he was confident that the election would be ‘one-touch’ victory for the NDC.
During his tour of the region, President Mahama addressed rallies at various towns, inaugurated development projects and climaxed his second day with the launch of the party’s manifesto at the Ho Jubilee Park on Thursday.
The President also held meetings with various NDC groups and party executives to strategize for the campaigns in the region.
He announced that a number of water and road projects had been awarded on contract, and gave the assurance that they would become more comfortable in subsequent years on account of the “Better Ghana Agenda”, the NDC government had rolled out to Ghanaians since 2009.
President Mahama is also slated to visit Dzodze, Denu, Aflao, Akatsi, Denu, Keta, Dzelukope, Dabala and Sogakope before returning to Accra on Friday evening.
