Prosecute Mrs. Rawlings If… - NDC MP

In the wake of the exposure of Nana Konadu Agyeman Rawlings’ Swiss Bank Account, Hon Asiedu Nketia has called for her prosecution provided it could be established beyond all doubt that the said account resulted from any financial malfeasance.

Speaking to the Crusading Guide newspaper, Honourable Asiedu Nketia, Member of Parliament (MP) for Wenchi West and representing the National Democratic Congress (NDC) noted that every Ghanaian citizen has the right to initiate a criminal case in courts against the ex-First Lady on the basis that the alleged Swiss Bank account was operated with money acquired from financial impropriety.

Dubbed “General Mosquito” for his uncompromising stance during Parliamentary debates, though he is of fragile and diminutive frame, Asiedu Nketia asserted that it was incumbent on all Ghanaians to ensure that, financial malfeasance and corruption are given little space in our efforts at building a successful nation.

“I am prepared to take action on every aspect of corruption no matter the person’s political colours; I am all for that and that is what I have been fighting for,” Nketia underscored. He however noted that the Crusading Guide’s story on exposure of Mrs. Rawlings’ Swiss Bank Account offered very little to any criminal case to be instituted against the ex-First Lady.

“It is information that is not complete and that will help anybody to form a sensible opinion on what is going on,” Gen Mosquito said.

He however reiterated his position that Ghanaians were committed to zero tolerance for corruption “anybody who thinks anybody else had done something wrong, let the person be brought up and then let the law deal with that person.”

Meanwhile, a lot of NDC MPs the Crusading Guide tried to talk to on the exposure of the Swiss Bank Account against the backdrop of ex-President Rawlings’ public denial of ever owning a dollar in a foreign account shielded away and refused to comment on the issue.
