Mills' Death: What's wrong with Ghanaians? Asiedu-Nketia asks

General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketia, says the manner in which Ghanaian politicians refuse to acknowledge the good works of their opponents is a disheartening feature of Ghana's politics that must be eschewed.

Mr. Asiedu-Nketsia believes that politicians must constructively criticize their political opponents to advance Ghana's politics.

Asiedu Nketia who was speaking to journalists at the State House where the late President Atta Mills is lying in state said the death of Professor Mills must unify the nation.

"What is wrong with us as a nation? What is wrong with our politics? Is it the case that Prof Mills after his death has suddenly converted into an angel and written of all his supposed wrong doings?"

He says politicians must refrain from turning a blind eye to the achievements of their opponents only to sing their praises when they pass on.

The Chairman of the NDC, Dr. Kwabena Adjei who also spoke to XYZ News at the State House urged politicians in Ghana to focus on issue-based politics rather than indulge in the politics of insults.

Dr. Kwabena Adjei said Ghanaians should learn a lesson from the death of President Mills whose tolerance and maturity is worth emulating.

He believes the late president’s legacy of peace and unity should be maintained even after his burial. Dr. Kwabena Adjei was among the dignitaries who filed pass the remains of late President Mills at the State House in Accra on Wednesday.

Some members of the clergy also filed pass the remains of the late president yesterday, among who were the Secretary of the Christian Council of Ghana, Rev.Dr. Fred Degbey and the Head Pastor of the Worldwide Miracle Outreach Church.

They called on Ghanaians to learn from the life of the late President Mills, a man they described as Gof-fearing man who was not scared of letting the world know.**
