Satellites suffer away loss

Ghana suffered a first leg setback in the qualifying for the 2013 Africa Youth Championship following a 3-1 away defeat to Uganda on Saturday.

The Black Satellites play the Hippos in the return clash in a fortnight and must overcome the deficit to reach the final round of qualifying where they could meet either Morocco or Gambia.

Maxwell Konadu's side drew first blood after just five minutes when Michael Anaba scored in Nakivubo.

But the home side drew level three minutes later striker Julius Ogwang before Joseph Mpande gave the Hippos a 2-1 lead.

Just before half-time, Ogwang scored his second of the afternoon to seal victory for Uganda.

Ghana's attempts to pull a goal back and possibly look for the equalizer in the second half failed to materialize as they now have the next 90 minutes at home to rescue their campaign.
