Prez Mills Commissions Millennium City School Complex

His Excellency President John Evans Atta Mills has commissioned an ultramodern school complex at the Mamprobi Salvation Cluster of Schools, which is to provide permanent accommodation for pupils who were formally part of the “school shift system” in the Accra Metropolis.

Delivering on the NDC’s manifesto pledge of “Investing In People”, the school complex, is only one out 40 similar on-going projects under the Accra Metropolitan Assembly’s (AMA) Millennium City Project, to provide modern school structures at the basic school level.

The three-story school complex has, 18 classrooms, a science laboratory, a computer laboratory, a library, an infirmary, toilet facilities, as well as a very spacious staff common room.

Commissioning the Complex, President Atta Mills commended the AMA Chief Executive and his Team, for dreaming up the concept and seeing it to its conclusion.

According to President Atta Mills, the imposing edifice is a solid testimony to the fact that the Better Ghana agenda is firmly on course.

“Those who say they have not seen anything, should come and see this building and they will know that we are indeed building a Better Ghana” President Mills said.

According to President Atta Mills, he will not allow any “noise” to take his attention away from what the people of Ghana have given him the mandate to do.

“Let those who want to make noise do so; we will remain focused and ensure that we give the people of Ghana what we promised” President Atta Mills said.

Speaking directly to the pupils, President Atta Mills asked them to make the best out of the facility and endavour to take their lessons serious.

On his part, the Education Minister, Mr. Lee Ocran, announced that Government is in the process of making history by supplying every teacher in Ghana with a laptop computer.

According to the Minister, a contract has already been signed for the supply of 50,000 laptops for starters.

The Education Minister, also reiterated the point that it is the good works of the Government which would give President Atta Mills a second-term, and urged the teachers and pupils to help the AMA maintain the facilities that the Government is providing to make teaching and learning less tedious.

The AMA Chief Executive, Mr. Oko Vanderpuje, thanked President Atta Mills for supporting the vision of the Assembly, and assured the President of the Assembly’s commitment of turning Accra into a modern city.

According to the Mayor, the Atta Mills Administration pledged to eliminate the “shift system” in Accra and it is major feather in the cap of the Government that the promise has been fulfilled.

From Mamprobi, President Atta Mills visited Mamponse, in the Ablekuma South Constituency, where he inspected on-going Upgrading Works in the community and also commissioned the completed Chemu Drain project.
