Newly trained apprentices receive their kits for self employment

Twenty-four trained apprentices in the Amansie-West District have been presented with tools and kits valued at GH¢12,813.70 to aid them to start their own businesses.

These were procured through the joint funding by the Government, International Fund for Development (IDF) and the African Development Bank (AfDB).

The beneficiaries are into hairdressing, dressmaking, barbering, carpentry, auto mechanics, welding and vulcanizing trades. Their training was facilitated by the Business Advisory Centre (BAC).

Mr. Charles Oti-Prempeh, the District Chief Executive, said this was a proof of the government’s commitment to fight joblessness and rural poverty.

He advised them to make sure that they put the kits to proper use so as to become economically self-supporting.

Mr. Agyenim Boateng, the District Head of the BAC, said they would do a follow up to help the beneficiaries to grow their businesses to give employment to others.

He encouraged them to adopt best business practices.**
