Ghana launches locally manufactured vulcanising heater

Mr. Clement Osei-Amoako, Chairman of Greater Accra Regional Chamber of Commerce on Wednesday said it was important for government to support private sector initiatives and innovative activities for massive industrialisation and growth.

He said government must encourage investors to stimulate initiative and innovative activities, set aside resources in the annual budgets to boost the initiatives.

Mr. Osei-Amoako was speaking at the launch of a locally manufactured Vulcanising Heater, Re-Engineered Rims, and Blow Torch, by Osko Industry, a member firm of the chamber in Accra.

He said the initiative had come at a time when the country had moved into a middle-income status with accelerated growth of 14.4 per cent, recording the highest growth rate in the world for 2011 fiscal year.

Mr. Osei-Amoako noted that, Osko Industry started from the scratch and with determination and hard work had come this far through difficulties, saying that the chamber would support the industry to grow its business to accelerate growth and improve economic and technological development.

Mr. John Thompson Osei, Chief Executive Officer of Osko Industry said Ghana could not grow without creativity, innovations and production.

He said the initiative was aimed at helping to improve industrialisation and serve as an example for other individuals to emulate to become better individuals in the society.

Mr. Osei said the vulcanising machine could be used to mend punched tyres, whilst the blow torch could be connected to Liquefied Petroleum Gas to heat or burn sewerage.

He called on government and the corporate world to support and help improve upon the development of the innovative industry.**
