JOY FM’s Image Stinks!!!

It is has become a matter that has sunk deep in the psyche of “Discerning Minds” that Joy FM is no longer the Joy FM of years gone by.
O; how some of us long for the days when Joy FM was really the number one station in Ghana and was really the station for the “Discerning listener”.
Joy FM has never been without some amount of fault but in all honesty, time was; when Joy FM could be excused for the mistakes that were made.
These days, Joy FM can no longer be forgiven for the deliberate and stinking “mistakes” that the station makes.
The other day, I heard a “discerning listener” say that “Joy FM’s image has sunk lower than the Titanic sunk”; how apt!!
Gone are the days when the Komla Dumors, Mawuko Zormelos, Fred Chidis, etc., acted as the nectars that attracted the listening “bees” to the Super Morning Show (SMS) and News bulletins.
Great is the nostalgic feeling that sweeps through my veins when I remember the very high pedestal on which Joy FM used to stand.
Gone are the days when it was a “taboo” to miss-out on any of Joy FM’s programmes.
Gone are the days when the SMS was the greatest tonic that pepped up the spirits of many a listener.
Gone are the days when Joy news was the heartbeat of the nation.
These days, even if some of us are paid to listen to the Super Morning Show and News bulletins, we may end up being charged for causing financial loss because we will collect the money and not listen as often as we must.
It is shame that Joy FM has REFUSED to replay the voice of the reckless NPP MP, Kennedy Agyepong, who is in the grips of the law for his call to arms as well as his genocidal statements against Gas and Ewes.
Joy FM has succeeded in hiding behind some leg-less excuse not to replay the potentially nation-wrecking statements of Kennedy Agyepong.
For the unsuspecting ear, you will allow yourself to be sucked into Joy FM’s line of argument as regards the raison d’être for not replaying the voice of dishonourable Kennedy Agyepong.
On the other hand, a deeper analysis of Joy FM’s leg-less excuse, exposes the pro-NPP and anti-Ghana agenda of Kwesi Twum, and his operatives at Joy FM.
It is now crystal clear that Kwesi Twum and his operatives at Multimedia in general and Joy FM in particular, are more interested in pursuing the NPP agenda rather than pursuing what is in the interest of Mother Ghana.
Let it not be mistaken that I am wronging Kwesi Twum and his operatives for loving the NPP; far from that.
Kwesi Twum, Ekyi Quarm, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, Sammy Yirenkyi, Adakabre Frimpong Manso and co can belong to the NPP; that is their right.
Indeed, the country would have been boring if all the 24 million Ghanaians decided to tow the same line.
The fact of the matter is that; I would not have been wasting my time putting my thoughts into words if Joy FM had openly declared its support for the NPP.
That is to say, if Joy FM openly declares that it is now in the same gutter league as Oman FM and some of the other rubbish pro-NPP stations, this writer will sleep soundly and have sweet dreams.
The writer is making his thoughts public because of the neutral ground that Joy FM claims to be standing on.
Kwesi Twum’s Multimedia media outlet is NOT standing on any neutral ground and that is a fact!
Honestly, Joy FM has exposed its pro-NPP agenda; and it stinks to the heavens.
Why do I say so?
I will tell you!
Kennedy Agyepong spoke his rubbish in Twi live on Oman FM, which has a captive NPP audience.
In other words, Kennedy Agyepong spoke to a captive audience in the hope that his listeners will not have the brains to sift through his reckless talk; and obey his command without thinking.
As happened in Rwanda, resulting in the slaughtering of close to one million human beings within a matter of weeks, Kennedy Agyepong was hoping to use his Oman FM to incite Akans to wage war on Gas and Ewes.
Indeed, Kennedy is on record to have said, sometime last year, that, if the NPP does not win the up-coming election, Ghana will be worse than Rwanda.
So what Kennedy Agyepong said the other day, was intended to breathe life into his earlier threat.
Here comes the crux of my line of thought: So if Oman FM’s captive audience did not obey Kennedy Agyepong’s reckless call to arms, what makes Joy FM think that its “discerning listeners” will obey Kennedy Agyepong’s reckless command?
Is Joy FM telling us that their “discerning listeners” don’t have the mental makeup to listen to what Kennedy Agyepong said, and sift through it?
Is Joy FM saying that Oman FM’s captive audience are more discerning than the “discerning listeners” of Joy FM?
If Gas and Ewes who have heard the sound bite on other networks are not calling for the head of Kennedy Agyepong, what makes Joy FM think the Gas and Ewes who listen to Joy will call for the head of the dishonourable Member of Parliament for Assin North?
This is where Joy FM exposes itself as wanting desperately to hide the real facts from its “discerning listeners”.
Joy FM cannot convince me that the station is refusing to replay the voice of Kennedy Agyepong because it will inflame passions; Joy FM is refusing to replay the voice because it will do extra damage to the NPP.
Is Joy FM saying they love the nation more than the radio stations that are allowing listeners to hear Kennedy Agyepong’s war cry as well as his call for Gas and Ewes to be beheaded and butchered the way the late Ya-Na Yakubu Andani II was beheaded and butchered?
Interestingly, Oman FM has also refused to replay the voice of Kennedy Agyepong.
A case of sheer Coincidence? Certainly not!!
Oman FM and Multimedia know the extra damage that the replay will do; hence the decision not to replay.
Is it not sad that after all the hard work that was put in by the “Edikanfo” to establish Multimedia, Kwesi Twum is now conspiring to drop his media empire into the bottom league where Oman FM is topping the table?
Indeed, is Joy FM saying they would have walked the same leg-less illogical path if it was an NDC operative who had said the evil and wicked things Kennedy Agyepong said?
Is Kojo Oppong Nkrumah saying that if the call to arms and genocidal statements had fallen from the lips of people like, Nii Lantey Vanderpuje, Elvis Afriye-Ankrah, Fiifi Kwetey, Koby Akyeampong, Koku Anyidoho, Hannah Bisiw, Rojo Mettle Nunoo, Kwabena Adjei, Johnson Asiedu-Nketia, Kojo Twum-Boafo and co, the Super Morning Show would have refused to replay the sound bite?
Can Oppong Nkrumah and his producers put their hands in fire and say that if the shoe were on the leg of the NDC, Joy FM and Multimedia would have taken the same decision in the “national interest”?
Is the Joy newsroom saying that if the afore-mentioned were the ones in the eye of the storm, the newsroom will refuse to replay the sound bite?
Joy FM; please go and tell your story to the Marines because “discerning minds” know that you are just trying to do damage control for the NPP.
Kennedy Agyepong’s reckless statements have certainly cost Akufo-Addo and the NPP a lot of votes and Joy FM and Multimedia want to manage the damage so the NPP does not lose more votes.
One would have thought that as the competition is getting keener, Joy FM would want to regain its former place of glory but that does not seem to be case.
Rather, Joy FM has chosen to drop its once strong image, to the low level of that of Oman FM and some other low-lying stations that have thrown ethics and the interest of Ghana to the dogs.
Is it not shocking that Citi FM, which is owned by a known NPP bigwig (Nick Armateyfio), replayed the sound bite and condemned Kennedy Agyepong’s reckless statements?
Even Peace FM, another known pro-NPP station, also replayed Kennedy Agyepong’s reckless statements.
It is a matter of fact that the CDD and Christian Council condemned Kennnedy Agyepong’s recklessness on Joy FM but the question is; why did Joy refuse to replay the voice of Kennedy Agyepong?
Kwesi Twum and co must know that Multimedia does not have the capacity to make Akufo-Addo President of Ghana “at all cost”.
Kwesi Twum and co must know that they don’t have the capacity to foist Akufo-Addo on Ghanaians.
It is very interesting listening to operatives of Joy FM massaging their over-bloated egos, and saying that they will “call” the 2012 election results for the NPP.
Very laughable indeed!!
Joy FM must get it straight into its head the station did not make the NDC winner of the 2008 election.
It is not Joy FM that declared Candidate Atta Mills winner of the 2008 election.
For the records, it was Dr. Kwado Afari-Djan, the Electoral Commissioner of Ghana, who declared the results.
What Joy FM did, was to put out the facts as they stood at the time.
It was not a case of Joy FM putting out cooked figures that made President Mills win.
So, if Joy thinks that for whatever reason, the station can manufacture figures for Akufo-Addo, that CANNOT be possible.
Just as happened in 2008, Joy FM will put out the figures as captured by the EC; no more, no less!
As stated earlier; it is sad that Kwesi Twum is conspiring with the NPP to destroy his media empire.
Well, history is replete with persons who destroyed what they built; so if that is what Kwesi Twum is doing, let him go ahead.
As for me, I am just one out of the 24 million Ghanaians who is wishing that Kwesi Twum does not allow the NPP to use him to destroy what he has worked so hard to build.
The NPP is a damaged commodity that will not win the 2012 election, and Kwesi Twum and co should be “discerning” enough to know Akufo-Addo is not going to become the next President of Ghana for Ursula Owusu to become the closet First Lady.
It is my prayer that sooner than later, Kwesi Twum will take his head out of the belly of the elephant and lift his eyes onto the hills; knowing, that is where his help will come from.
As for me, I rest my case for now and pray that I never comment openly again on the way Kwesi Twum, Multimedia, and Joy FM, are making a lot of “discerning listeners” yearn for the days when Joy FM, was really the Super Hits Radio.
Kwesi Twum and Multimedia, in the innermost part of me, I wish you well but if you don’t wish yourselves well, that is your own cup of tea.
Do I recall Joy FM also refusing to replay Akufo-Addo’s war-mongering “All Die Be Die” statement? Hmm!!!!
May God continue to bless our homeland Ghana, and make the things that unite us, surpass the things that have the potential of dividing us!
