PLAQUE UNVEILED

A member of the Council of State, Dr.. Mary Grant has stated that one of the greatest achievement that a woman can identify herself with, is the advancement and upliftment of the cause of her fellow women in society. This, she said, will serve as a living memory for generations to come, Dr.. Mary Grant said this in a tribute to unveil a plaque in honour of the late Mrs.. Rosamond Mancell, the founder and first Proprietess of Mancell Girls Vocational Institute at a ceremony in Kumasi. The ceremony also coincided with the 10th anniversary celebration in commemoration of the death of Mrs.. Mancell who died in 1987. Dr.. Grant described the late Mrs..Mancell as one of the greatest women who dedicated herself in pursuance of women education, throughout her life time. She said Mrs., Mancell distinguished herself as a great fighter, whose adventure and fulfilment turned her into a contemporary crusader. She made sure women were well equipped in order to be able to play the role expected of them. In another tribute, a retired Diplomat, Mr.. V.H. Sekyi acknowledged the assistance and support the late Asantehene, Nana Prempeh and his Queenmother, the Catholic Bishop of Kumasi, Rt. Reverend Akwasi Sarpong and the various embassies provided to enable the late Mrs.. Mancell's dream come true.
