Stevanovic rejects opening compensation offer

Footy-ghana.com investigations reveal that Black Stars head coach Goran Stevanovic yesterday rejected an initial offer of compensation from the Ghana Football Association.

According to footy-ghana.com checks, Stevanovic met some members of the GFA’s Executive Committee yesterday with his adviser with the Executive Committee members including GFA President Kwasi Nyantakyi, George Afriyie, Felix Ansong and Kweku Eyiah.

Stevanovic was then informed that the GFA could no longer work with him as the Black Stars coach and so the discussions veered into the issue of a suitable severance package.

Footy-ghana.com understands that an initial offer in the region of €120,000 (120,000 Euros) was made to the Serbian coach as compensation, but Stevanovic turned it down and asked for an increase. He was then told to think about the offer over this weekend and return for more talks on Monday.

It is expected that the GFA would increase its offer to an amount in the region of €200,000 and footy-ghana.com has learnt that an agreement could be struck on Monday.

Goran Stevanovic’s contract makes no mention of a compensation package should the GFA decide to dispense with his services and Stevanovic himself feels he has not flouted the terms of the contract, which is why he is playing hard ball at the moment.
