EC to exhibit voters register on April 23

The Provisional Voters Register will be exhibited for public inspection and scrutiny between April 23 and April 29, the Electoral Commission (EC) has announced.

The EC said the exercise, which will be carried out at the same designated centres , where last month's registration exercise was carried out, will start from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily.

This was contained in a statement signed by the Director of Public Affairs of the commission, Mr Henry W. Okyne, in Accra yesterday.

The statement entreated both new and old registered voters to go the centres during the exhibition period to ascertain whether the particulars of their data in the register are correct and also to make claims for correction in their personal data.

"The registered voters can as well make claims for insertion of their names omitted from the register, object to the inclusion of names of unqualified persons, ensure that any request made for permanent transfer has been effected and assist in removing the names of deceased persons in the register", it said.

The statement cautioned all registered voters that it is an offence " for one to have one's name in more than one provisional register or in the same register."

It said anyone who finds himself or herself in such a situation is advised to go the exhibition centre in his or her electoral area to have that registration which might have been done inadvertently cancelled.

The statement appealed to all Ghanaians and stakeholders to co-operation with the commission to ensure the success of the exercise.
