Specialist subject teachers upgrade knowledge in Ajumako District

The Ajumako-Enyan-Essiam District Education Directorate, in collaboration with the District Assembly have organised a day’s workshop for 240 specialist subject teachers in English, Science, Pre-Technical Skills and Home Economics.

The workshop, which attracted 80 participants drawn from Junior High Schools in the district was aimed at upgrading teacher-teaching capabilities to enable them prepare the final year candidates for the exams to avoid zero per cent score in the district.

Mr John Harmah, District Director of Education charged the participants to take the workshop seriously to ensure that the set aim is achieved.

He said to ensure efficiency; a follow up visit by a team put in place by the Directorate would be on their toes and expressed the hope that the teachers would impact what they have learnt onto the pupils for general improvement in their academic performance.

The District Director warned the final year students against absenteeism and called on parents to monitor the movement of their wards to facilitate their academic work.

Mr Emmanuel Gyan, a participant who is also an English Teacher from the Salvation Army Junior High School in the District, told the Ghana News Agency that the workshop had been beneficial to he and his colleagues and had also served as morale booster.
