King of Osu commends Government

and security agencies for their swift response to natural disasters

Accra, Nov 23, GNA - The chief of Osu, Nii Okwei Kinka Dowuona VI on Wednesday congratulated the President John Atta Mills and the security agencies for their swift response to natural disasters in the country.

A statement Nii Okwei Kinka Dowuona VI signed said the security agencies had executed their core mandate of ensuring safety for all Ghanaians during the crisis, thus the need to acknowledge their contributions towards national development.

It said the Osu stool deemed it fit to express its gratitude to the timely intervention by the National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO), the Ghana Armed Forces and the National Fire Service in saving lives and properties during the recent flood in the city.

The Osu stool is therefore pledging its support to the state authorities to any development project that is earmarked to benefit majority of the people in the country irrespective of the inconvenience it might cause.

The statement said the stool was also extolling the Police Service for ensuring seat belts were worn effectively to avert road accidents, saying in recent times Ghana had recorded some road accidents attributed to negligence and the failure to wear seat belts.

“It is heartwarming to note that seat belts are nowadays worn by drivers and passengers and this has contributed to minimizing road accidents in recent times,” it said.
