NDC to create conducive environment for all aspirants

Accra, Nov 21, GNA – The National Democratic Congress (NDC) on Monday affirmed that it will create conducive political engagement platform for all aspirants to contest for parliamentary seats in Elections 2012.

“NDC as a mass socialist political movement has over the years attracted credible personalities playing active roles in both local and national politics with the capability to contest for any elective position.

“The party therefore would not place any impediment or obstacle to obstruct any person who aspires to contest for, especially a parliamentary seat...but we must all follow and adhere to due process laid down by the National Executives,” Nii Amasah Namoale, a Deputy Minister of Food and Agriculture told the Ghana News Agency in an interview.

Nii Amasah Namoale, who is also the NDC Member of Parliament for Dade Kotopon Constituency, challenged all Parliamentary aspirants; especially those who seek to contest for constituency seats occupied by NDC MPs to acknowledge the party’s rules for engagement.

“We must all obey the rules of engagement, stop the underground manoeuvring and work together to strengthen the party structures at the constituency ...party unity should be paramount as we seeks to retain power with majority parliamentary seats in Elections 2012.

“The strength of the party at the Constituency levels depends not only on the popularity of the seating members but the collective activity of members,” Nii Amasah Namoale stated.

He said: “As a father of the constituency, all MPs welcome other members who wants to contest for their seats, in particular consider intra-party contest as a dress rehearsal for the general elections.

“We must however follow due process to ensure that whoever emerge victor at the end will eventually win the parliamentary seats and also help gain more votes for the Presidential Candidate”.

Nii Amasah Namoale also denied speculations that he was seeking to enter into an electoral pact with some aspiring candidates....”, seek for their support for a second term whilst he in turn stepped aside and supported them in 2016”.

He said: ”I have worked with the people, supported self-help community initiatives; donated computers, school uniforms, textbooks, incubator and generator to La Government Hospital and supported all football teams within the community.

“NDC Dade Kotopon should continue to serve as one of the strongholds of the party with or without Nii Amasah Namoale, that is my ambition and I have worked over the years for this...all aspirants must therefore work within the party structures to ensure continuity”.
