Ho, Sept. 21, GNA-MTN, a telecommunication company, on Tuesday presented a cheque for Ghc 5,000 and other packages to spice up the Asogli Yam Festival.
The packages included a hamper of drinks, airtime worth 1,000 Cedis, branded t-shirts.
The theme of the month-long festival which would be climaxed with a durbar on Saturday September 24, 2011, in Ho, is, “Our Politics Must Bring About Peace, Unity and Development”.
Mr Nii Adotey Mingle, South East Business District MTN Manager, who represented the MTN management, said the company associates with the aspirations of the Asogli State and as before it would also provide canopies and other paraphernalia for the grand durbar.
Mr Mingle said the theme was apt and could “not have come at a better time considering the fact that the elections are barely a year away”.
He commended the “can do spirit” of Togbe Afede XIV, Paramount Chief of the area, whose strides in business locally and internationally and support for education were remarkable.
Mr Mingle prayed the chiefs and elders of the Asogli State to strengthen their patronage of the MTN in the area to give additional vim to the flourishing Asogli-MTN bonds.
Mama Agblatsu III, Queen of Bankoe, who received the items on behalf of Togbe Afede, said the Asogli State would provide opportunities to make the bond between it and MTN stronger.
Highlights of the festival, characterized by widespread merriment, included a pilgrimage to Nortsie in Togo, a trip up the Adaklu Mountain, and a beauty pageant.
