Private WASSCE candidates advised to avoid cheating

Ayeduase (Ash), Sept. 10, GNA – Private candidates writing this year’s West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE), have been urged to desist from cheating, stay out of trouble and play it fairly.

The advice was given by some Chief Examiners of the West African Examination Council at a day’s orientation programme, held for more than thousand remedial students at Ayeduase, a suburb of Kumasi.

The goal of the programme was to help them to have a better understanding of the rules and regulations of the examination and how to answer questions.

On hand to take them through the orientation were Dr Samuel S.K. Amponsah, Chief Examiner, Elective Mathematics and Dr S.K. Agbo, Chief Examiner, Social Studies.

Mr Jonathan Annan Hammer, Director of the College, asked the candidates to be disciplined and put every form of pleasure aside as they wrote the papers.

He asked them to read all the instructions carefully before attempting to answer the questions.

Mr Emmanuel Rohn and Mr Francis Adomako, both tutors of the college, said inadequate preparation and the tendency to ignore simple instructions were responsible for the inability of many candidates to pass examinations
