Former Tigo Head of IT is now Head of MTN Business

Adom News can confirm that the former Head of IT at Tigo Ghana, Eric Nsarkoh has crossed over to MTN Ghana to head MTN Business.
Eric started work as the Head of the newly established MTN Business from Thursday, September 1, 2011, but MTN is yet to formally introduce him to the public.
According to information on Eric’s Linkedin page, he also used to the IT Director at Airtel Ghana.
Information reaching Adom News indicates MTN is gearing up to showcase three new top executives, including Eric to the public; the other two are the new Corporate Services Executive, Cynthia Lumor and a new General Manager, whose name is yet to be confirmed.
Eric joins MTN at a time when the company has landed the West Africa Cable Systems (WACS) fibre optic cable in the country to provide the solid backbone for data, ICT and business solutions on MTN.
MTN Ghana CEO, Michael Ikpoki had said the MTN Business would focus on providing tailor-made business solutions to small and medium-scale enterprises (SMEs), which formed the backbone of Ghana’s economy.
Eric therefore comes with a wealth of experience in developing cutting-edge innovative and relevant ICT solutions for businesses in Ghana and abroad, and also consulting and lecturing on ICT solutions.
A source at the MTN says “there could not have been a better fit for the job considering the direction MTN Business wants to take.”
Eric is a Chemical Engineer and an ICT/MIS professional and has held various positions in industry and consulting over the year.

He has worked as Chief Information Officer within the Heineken Group’s operation in Ghana (erstwhile Ghana Breweries Ltd), and also spent 5 years as a Senior Project Manager in Heineken International (Amsterdam, the Netherlands), where he rolled out various projects and systems.

Eric has also held positions in Sales Management and General Management, spanning the tobacco and telecommunication industries.

He has also worked in Management Consulting for KPMG and Price Waterhouse.

Before he moved to MTN, he was the CEO of Upper Bridge Consultancy and devoted his time to consulting and lecturing.

Eric holds an MBA in Management Information Systems, from the Vrije Universiteit Brussel, and the University of Ghana Business School, and also a BSc (Hons) in Chemical Engineering from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science & Technology, Ghana.

Within a matter of one year, MTN Ghana lost three major top executives in the persons of Chief Marketing Officer, George Andah, Chief Technical Officer, Ebenezer Albertyn and recently the affable Corporate Services Executive, Mawuena Adjo Dumor.
George and Ebenezer joined competitor Airtel to work in similar capacities at the continental level, responsible for all 16 Airtel operations in Africa.
But it is not yet clear where Mawuena Dumor is moving on it, even though pundits have not ruled out a move to Glo Ghana, who are due to launch their mobile services later this month.
MTN Ghana recently showcased Rahul De as the new substantive CMO to replace George and Johan Huffman and came in to replace Ebenezer as new CTO.
