NUGS to lead students' demonstration

Accra, July 26 GNA - The National Union of Ghana Students (NUGS), is expected to lead the Students Representative Council and students of the University of Ghana, in a protest against the increment in academic facilit= y user fee and residential facility user fee by the authorities, on Wednesday= .. The Union called on all students and parents to come out in their numbers and join in the demonstration.

A statement signed by Mr Hamza S. Suhuyini, President of NUGS, and copied to the Ghana News Agency on Tuesday, said the posture of the Vice Chancellor of the University since he assumed office could not be said to b= e friendly and accommodating. It said the Union blamed the Vice Chancellor for breach of faith in students' negotiations, and said that institutional heads must fully face the consequences of their actions.

The statement said: 93We have therefore resolved that the Vice Chancellor and the University Council must face the brunt of students and parents for this naked show of power. We surely will give meaning to the provision of free progressive education in our constitution and not the contrary".
