The Ahwoi Brothers …What At All Do They Want?

When former President Jerry John Rawlings referred to some of President Mills’ men as greedy bastards, sources close to the castle say he was at least talking about one of the Ahwoi brothers, Ato.

This perception has been reinforced by the stature that he has gained since the Mill-Mahama Administration came to power.

According to sources, the Ahwoi brothers which include Kwesi (Food and Agriculture Minister) and Kwamena are not only very powerful in the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) but have their hands in several pies in government.

Having been able to scheme to have their brother in law appointed as Director of Ghana’s foreign intelligence work popularly called the Research Department (RD), they are transacting several businesses through their sister.

Investigations of this paper show that Mrs. Bartels (Ahwois Sister) has imported 28 articulator trucks from Europe which is used to cart imported rice to several destinations in and outside Ghana.

This business, this paper gathered is raking in millions of Ghana cedis for the Ahwois and calls into question Kwesi Ahowi’s commitment towards improving the local rice industry since he is the Minister of Food and Agriculture.

Sources within the castle say, Mrs. Bartels has also been given the contract to provide the free exercise books that the Mills-Mahama Administration claims to be distributing.

“So the Ahwois are not only involved in the oil industry with Ato being the boss of GNPC but are involved in the importation and sale of rice in the country.

“They have the President’s ear…if you don’t play by their rules, you are out and I hope you remember what Ato told Spio concerning appointments into this administration”, a castle source noted.

DAYBREAK is currently investigating allegations that Professor Kwamena Ahwoi is raking in so much money from ware-houses in the Free Zones area.

Many Ghanaians have not forgotten how the Ahwois made billions of cedis through their company CASHPRO during the era of Jerry John Rawlings.

Meanwhile, word has it that Ato Ahwoi who is normally called Uncle Ato by sympathizers of the NDC is not in good health having suffered from a mild-stroke.

A bizarre incident which occurred during the NDC’s congress in the Brong Ahafo regional capital of Sunyani has given credence to the view that Uncle Ato is not in good health. Whilst walking at the congress grounds, he suddenly collapse and fell to the ground but was quickly helped to a chair by not so either healthy Mr. Kofi Totobi Quakyi, his long time friend.
