One dead, two injured in accident at Bonsa

Bonsa, (W/R) July 18, GNA — A motor accident that occurred at Bonsa, near Tarkwa, at the weekend resulted in the death of Eric Tawiah, with Stephen Bamaazo and Issiful Moro being severely injured.

The Western Regional Motor Traffic and Transport Unit Commander, Deputy Superintendent of Police, Daniel Dzakah, said the accident occurred on July 16, at about 0600 hours at Bonsa, near Tarkwa, in the Western Region.

He said Moro Yussif was driving an articulated truck, with registration number GN6590Z, loaded with Manganese from Nsuta towards Takoradi with Eric Tawiah on board.

DSP Dzakah said the driver, however, lost control of the steering wheel, veered off his lane to the opposite lane, and collided with a Mercedes truck, loaded with fertilizers.

The Regional MTTU Boss said the driver of the Mercedes truck, Stephen Bamaazo, and Issiful Moro, a passenger, who were seriously injured were rushed to the Tarkwa Government Hospital for treatment, while Eric Tawiah died shortly after arriving at the hospital.

DSP Dzakah said the driver of the articulated truck was arrested by the police to assist them in their investigations while the two vehicles were impounded.

The Regional MTTU Boss cautioned motorists to drive carefully, especially, when it was raining to avert accidents.
