Nana Konadu: I responded to calls from numerous members

Sunyani (B/A), July 9, GNA - Nana Konadu Agyeman Rawlings, former fi= rst lady, said her entry into the National Democratic Congress (NDC) slot to lead the party in the 2012 presidential election was informed by calls from numerous members to save the party from returning to opposition. The former first lady, who was speaking in Sunyani on Saturday prior t= o voting at the NDC National Delegates Congress, said the members included the youth, foot soldiers, some ministers of state as well as some founding members of the party She said to win an election had nothing to do with gender 93since a woman can win an election".

Nana Konadu, who is also President of the 31st December Movement, a non-governmental organisation, said she had the commitment, capability and ability to deliver as the presidential candidate of the party, to eventuall= y win the 2012 Election.

Nana Konadu, who was introduced by Mr Kofi Adams, Spokesperson for Former President Rawlings and campaign coordinator of the former first lady= , called on the delegates to examine their living conditions and vote wisely. President John Evans Atta Mills, who declined to be introduced before his speech, emphasized that there would be light at end of the tunnel and appealed to the delegates 93to give us the opportunity to continue with th= e good works we are doing"
