New Juaben Traditional Council condemns demo against Paramount chief

Accra, July 8, GNA - The New Juaben Traditional Council in the Eastern Region, has condemned the recent demonstration against Daasebre Professor Emeritus Oti Boateng, New Juabenhene.

It said the demonstration was a gross disregard for laid down procedures for seeking redress in chieftaincy, customary and traditional affairs and condemned it without any reservations.

A statement issued by the Council copied to the Ghana News Agency in Accra on Friday condemning the demonstration said, 93That type of mischievous means of seeking redress should not be entertained in the affairs of the time-honoured chieftaincy institution since it will only succeed in breeding conflicts and chaos."

It was in reaction to a press conference and demonstration by some people at Koforidua on Tuesday June 21st, this year for alleged 93fallen standards of customs and tradition of the people of New Juaben" and made some baseless and misleading allegations against the New Juabenhene.

The statement said 93The Yiadom-Hwedie Stool universally commands honour and dignity, which the New Juabenhene has advanced and maintained to the admiration of all and sundry."

"The Council expresses its confidence in the New Juabenhene and its appreciation for the unparalled progress and development in the New Juaben Traditional Area during his reign."

It said since the enstoolment of Daasebre Oti Boateng on October 26, 1992 he had demonstrated excellent and outstanding leadership qualities by his inherent and unique skills as a good listener of all shades of opinion and suggestions before making a final decision.
