Ghana Scout Association elects new chief commissioner

Accra, June 28, GNA - Mr Gregory Manful, a 31 year old Public Servan= t was on Saturday elected as the new Chief Scout Commissioner of the Ghana Scout Association. He polled 14 votes out of the 27 total eligible votes to beat Mr Louis Okyere in an election that took place at the Baden Powell Centenary Memoria= l Hall in Accra. Mr Joseph Tambila, 45, an educationist was elected as the deputy commissioner after beating Mr Andrews Botchway. Mr Manful and Tambila promised to uphold the dignity and authority of the Council in all legal and just demands.

They appealed to the members to bury their differences and rally behin= d them to rebuild the lost image of the association, adding that their doors are opened to receive fruitful suggestions, contributions and ideas. The Deputy Chief Scout, Commissioner Jerry Ekins, who chaired the meeting, led them to take the oath of office. Commissioner Ekins said as key leaders of the association they should have the ability to make right decisions and discuss matters with their teams. He urged them to ensure an open administration towards the building of the association and also safeguard the unity and discipline as intended by the founder, Lord Baden Powell. My Isaac Newton Addy, out-going Chief Commissioner and Jewmina Nartey-Adjirakor former Deputy Chief Commissioner commended the delegates for exhibiting maturity during the election.
