Exposing The Hypocrisy Of Akufo-Addo & The NPP.

Exposing The Hypocrisy, Double Standards, Extreme Emptiness, Of Akufo-Addo & The NPP.

Good morning friends of the media, comrades, brothers and sisters, on behalf of the NDC Youth Working Committee I welcome you to this press conference. We appreciate your coming.

The NYWC is a committee of like-minded youth of the National Democratic Congress, gathered to offer positive research based critique of our political system and put to strict analysis, comments, actions and inactions of our political opponents and political actors.
You have been invited here to witness the exposure of the hypocrisy if not the emptiness of the flag-bearer of the New Patriotic Party Mr. Akuffo Addo and the right-wing property-grabbing NPP.
In recent times Ghanaians have often woken up to a series of unnecessary and unwarranted attacks from the NPP and their Flagbearer vis-à-vis the working visits of His Excellency President Atta Mills, to the regions, and the extent to which it is visibly being manifested that the Better Ghana agenda is solidly on course.
For a while, the NPP tried desperately to create the false impression that under the watch of President Atta Mills, Ghana has taken several steps backwards, and not a single step forward.
The false impression was created that the Mills Administration was only interested in having prayer sessions at the Castle, and drinking “Joshua Water”.
On the contrary, the working visits of His Excellency President Atta Mills have made it clear to all that this Administration has used two years to do what the Kufuor Administration could not achieve in 8 years, and making the NPP press panic buttons all over the airwaves.
Realizing that the working visits of the President is exposing their vile propaganda of “Enko yie”, and with some traditional rulers openly commending President Atta Mills for his determined approach to building a Better Ghana, Akufo-Addo and the NPP are now casting aspersions at the President for cutting sods and commissioning completed projects.
As far as Akufo-Addo and the NPP are concerned, it is a sacrilegious act for any “serious” President, to cut sods for the commencement of projects; and also to cut the tape for the commissioning of completed works.
The NPP refrain is; “why should President Mills be doing the jobs that DCEs and MCEs should be doing?”.
That is to say, Akufo-Addo and the NPP do not consider the commissioning of completed projects as an important assignment.
Ladies and Gentlemen of the media, we the members of the NYWC had never been in doubt that in due course, the hypocrisy and double standards of Akufo-Addo and the NPP would be exposed, and we are gathered here this morning to do exactly that.
Before us, is a book titled “4 Years of Positive Change; So Far So Good”.
The 70 page document, which has the Coat of Arms, a silhouetting Ghana National Flag, as well as the picture of former President John Agyekum Kufuor on its front page, is a document that was prepared by the then NPP Government to showcase the successes that were supposedly chalked during the first 4 year tenure of President Kufuor.
Friends of the media, the editorial team had, Dan Botwe as its Chairman. Other members of the editorial team were, Frank Agyekum, Nana Ohene Ntow, Kofi Amponsah Bediako, V.T. Kuuzume, Divine Kwapong, Rev. Kofi Awadzi, Henry Woode, and Annan Akuetteh.
Portions of the Foreword written by Dan Botwe, Minister for Information at the time, an otherwise very cautious and responsible politician, reads as follows:
“When we assumed the reins of power in January 2001, we promised among others to undertake vigorous infrastructural development to ensure the rapid growth of the nation.
… The book entitled Four years of Positive Change…so far so good is a pictorial record of only some, not all of what this government under H.E. John Agyekum Kufour has achieved in the first four year mandate that the people of this nation gave him.
It is testimony of what President Kufuor and his team will do in the second four-year mandate that the people of this nation have given him …”
Comrades and Friends from the media, it is instructive to note that the “vigorous infrastructure” as indicated in the foreword is only 7 structures which occupy only 3 pages in 70 paged booklet.
Three out of the seven structures are, a HIPC sponsored KVIP toilet, a two shelve library and 3 unit classroom block for Essumeja, Ashanti Region.
What rather dominated the booklet from page 1-25, is President Kufour’s foreign travels and state banquets with foreign dignitaries, where expensive wine and food are being eaten at the expense of the poor tax payer.
But who can blame the NPP for this?
It is indeed an achievement for a President whose hobby on his official CV, is, travelling.
For a President who had a huge billboard with a picture of himself and the Queen of England erected at Kwame Nkrumah Circle, it is not surprising that with such an overbearing slave mentality, President Kufuor considered his interactions with white men considerable achievements.
Little wonder that in the 8 years that President Kufuor steered the ship of stated in the wrong direction, he travelled abroad twice a month on the average.
Some of the achievements include; a picture of a smiling Monkey at Fiema Monkey Sanctuary and colleagues, this is an achievement?
To make matters worse; the monkey was not excited.
Maybe, if there was some positive change in the life of the monkey, it would have been smiling.
Others are pictures of an Asafo group at a deer haunting festival of the people of Winneba, President Kufour being welcomed by the Chiefs of Western Region, some gymnastic displays by primary school children at the Independence Day celebration, President Kufuor laying a wreath on the tomb of Dr. Kofi Abrefa Busia at Wenchi, and Vice President Aliu Mahama Kicking a ball to start fun games.
On page 56 of the booklet, President Kufuor is pictured using a shovel to cut to sod for some project to commence.
Today, Akufo-Addo, NPP bigwigs, as well as the party’s small-minded serial callers, wake up daily and inundate the airwaves with insults directed at the hard working President Atta Mills for cutting sods for work on projects to commence.
How dishonest can Akuffo-Addo and the NPP be?
Ladies and gentlemen, friends of the media, the dishonesty of Akufo-Addo and the NPP is epitomized by pictures of The Elmina Castle, Kintampo Water Falls, as well as the Statue of Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah.
For a group of people who hate Kwame Nkrumah with a passion, is it not interesting that, in looking for things to hype up their achievement, they chose to use the statue of the great Osagyefo?
We will make the booklet available to all those who will care to leaf through it and see for themselves the useless things that the NPP considered to be great achievements, and juxtapose it against the heavy infrastructure development that President Atta Mills has been commissioning on his tours.
Per the thinking of the NPP, it is ok for President Kufuor to commission KVIPs; but it is a crime for President Atta Mills to commission, 12 unit classroom blocks, dormitories, health centers, hospitals, workers’ accommodation, etc. Such stinking hypocrisy!!!
In fact, caught pants down in their own self-created quagmire of dabbling vile propaganda, Akufo-Addo’s Communication Director, Nana Akomea, lied through his teeth that the document does not belong to the NPP.
In an interview with Asempa FM’s Nana Bobie Ansah, Nana Akomea, who has taken over from Kwamena Bartels as the NPP’s most despicable “serial liar”, lied that the booklet is not a creation of the NPP.
Indeed, Akomea, produced another document to attempt to counter this one but he was exposed as a liar.
In fact all the members on the editorial board including Dan Botwe, Frank Agyekum, current spokesperson of Former President Kufour, Nana Ohene Ntow, Kofi Amponsah Bediako and so on, have refused to comment because they know that the document is an authentic, but an embarrassing one from the NPP.
The printing press that printed the booklet has been contacted and it has been established that the booklet was printed at the said printing press.
Civil servants at the Information Service Department of the Ministry of Information have also admitted having worked on the said booklet together with the editorial team.
Friends of the media, is it the case that upon hindsight Akuffo Addo and the NPP are heavily embarrassed by their own useless achievements in first four years in office, to the extent that they can’t even claim ownership of a compilation of their achievements?
Is Akufo-Addo running away from the record of President Kufuor?
Realizing that the party will sink further into the quicksand of extreme ignominy, John Buadu, who works under Akomea as part of Akufo-Addo’s convoluted communications structure, confessed on the same Asempa FM last Friday that the document is a bona fide of the NPP.
As we say in our local parlance “Enimguase Akwaaba!!!” Nana Akomea is now a walking personification of lies!
Ladies and gentlemen, friends of the media, it is ipso facto that NPP flagbearer, Akufo-Addo and his NPP have been deluded into believing that the average Ghanaian voter is gullible and unintelligent hence their penchant for throwing out a lot of hogwash in a desperate attempt to win back political power after spending 8 years destroying the image of Kwame Nkrumah’s Ghana and turning it into a “cocaine coast” as well as turning the clock of progress backwards.
We the members of the NDC National Youth Working Committee are, per this exposing of the hypocrisy and double standards of Akuffo-Addo and the NPP, calling on all well-meaning Ghanaians not to pay any attention to the empty noise of the NPP.
Most certainly, the NPP has no message and alternative plan for Ghana and think that empty noise is what will make Ghanaians look in their direction.
As a matter of urgency, we call on Akuffo Addo to offer an unqualified apology to the people of Ghana for referring to the President as Prof. Do-Little and describing Ghana’s political system as “Poverty Owning Democracy”.
We wish to also call on Nana Akomea to come and offer an unqualified apology to the people of Ghana for lying and impugning criminal motives to the NDC and calling the NDC fraudsters when he knew it for a fact that it was his party and Government that produced the booklet.
In fact, it will be in Akufo-Addo’s interest to quickly dismiss Akomea as Communications Director because his penchant for lying has turned him into a discredited character who will only worsen the woes and the crippled image of Akufo-Addo and the NPP.
With no comprehensive plan for the Ghanaian electorate, we are not surprised that Akufo-Addo and the likes of Ursula Owusu have adopted the NPP’s 2008 modus operandi, and emplaned to Germany and England to go and sing and dance.
December 2012 is just round the corner and we shall see whether the discerning Ghanaian voter will vote for the songs and dances of Akufo-Addo and the NPP, or will vote for the well focused Better Ghana agenda of His Excellency President Atta Mills and the NDC.
Ladies and gentlemen, friends of the media, the NYWC wishes to thank you for accepting our invitation and we hope that as the main conduits of news dissemination, you will continue to partner His Excellency President Atta Mills and the NDC Administration so that together, we all can contribute to building a Better Ghana for ourselves, our children, and our children’s children.
We appreciate your time with us and thank you for your kind attention.
God bless you all.
