‘Ghana Needs A Rescue Plan’ - Yakubu Tali

Mr Alhassan Yakubu Tali, National Vice Chairman of NPP Germany has stated that Ghana needs a rescue plan to extricate itself from the economic mess and the political paralysis created by the NDC government.

He pointed out that the high cost of living, eratic power supply, persistent water shortages and the outbreak of preventable diseases have become the lot of Ghanaians following the election of the inept and incompetent Mills-Mahama administration.

Mr Tali made these comments while addressing party supporters and friends who gathered at the Duseldorf International Airport to welcome him from Ghana after the NPP-Primaries.

He said the Mills-Mahama administration has for the past two years demonstrated that it is incapable of governance and their mandate will end come 2012 adding that if the entire government machinery can be brought to a standstill because the President has gone to pick a nomination form then Ghana has a serious leadership problem under the NDC. This he emphasised ,is not just irresponsible but a blatant abuse of the people’s mandate by a government that has got its priorities wrong.

Touching on the just-ended NPP Primaries, Mr Tali explained that the orderly and peaceful manner the elections were conducted demonstrates once again the level of political maturity, discipline and effective leadership within the NPP. He disclosed that out of a total of 516 aspirants who contested the elections in 220 constituencies only two(2) petitions(North Tongu and Okaikoi South) have been submitted to the National Secretariat for consideration and added that this should serve as an example to all parties across the continent that peaceful and orderly elections are possible and infact should be the norm.

He attributed this to the visionary and proactive leadership of Nana Akufo-Addo and his team saying ’this is the type of leadership Ghana needs and deserves which unfortunately has been in short supply under the Mills-Mahama administration’.

Mr Tali used the opportunity to thank the Germany Branch for their support during the Primaries and appealed to them to continue to support the Tolon constituency despite the that he did not win the Primaries.

According to him, the NPP believes in building strong institutions and said the party is bigger than any single individual adding that ’Our support for this great party should transcend beyond personalities’.

In the recently-held NPP Primaries,Mr Tali had 190 as against Mr Wahab Suhiyini Wunbei a former District Chief Executive[DCE] under President Kufuor who got 216 votes.
