UEW receives assistance from Netherlands Foundation

Winneba (C/R), April 21, GNA - The Force Foundation of the Netherlands, a non-governmental organisation, has presented equipment valued at 19,000 euros to the Resource Centre for students with visual Impairment of the Department of Special Education of University of Education, Winneba.

The items include, Everest Index Braille Embosser Machine (Printer), two computers and accessories, Dophin pens, Headphones, swell paper and its machines for the production of graphics. Presenting the items Mr Mattijs Balfoort, Director of the Foundation, said the donation was in response to an appeal the University made last October.

He said the equipment would help make information more accessible to students with visual impairment and also promote teaching and learning.

The Director appealed to the authorities of the University to ensure that the items are used for the benefit of the students and to enhance their studies.

Professor Mawutor Avoke, Pro Vic-Chancellor of UEW, received the items and expressed his appreciation to the donors for their support. He said the equipment will help improve the teaching and learning of students of the Department. 21 April 11
