Akua Dansua Appointed To ICD Board

Hon. Akua Dansua, Minister for Tourism, has been appointed onto the Advisory Board of the Institute for Cultural Diplomacy (ICD), in Berlin, Germany with effect from April 1st, 2011. The appointment is a prestigious honour for distinguished professional achievement in cultural diplomacy and governance.

Other distinguished personalities on the Board include Bertie Ahern (former Prime Minister of Ireland), Dr. Vaira Vike-Freberga (former President of Latvia), and Dr. Alfredo Palacio (Former President of Ecuador).

A letter addressed to the Tourism Minister dated March 28, 2011 and signed by the Institute’s Director and Founder, Mark C Donfried, said the appointment is in recognition of an excellent delivery by Hon. Dansua of a paper on the theme “The Future of Nation Branding, Tourism and Investment in a Globalized World” at the International Berlin Economic Congress held in Berlin, Germany on 9th March, 2011.

- More - The prestigious award will afford Hon. Dansua the platform to make Ghana’s position heard internationally on pertinent issues. As indicated in the last paragraph of the appointment letter “you should also be able to leverage the Institute’s various fora to communicate to the international community, whenever necessary, your country’s policies and stances on national and global issues”.

The Institute has also pledged to support the Ministry of Tourism to develop and implement cultural tourism projects in Ghana towards increasing employment and income generating opportunities for Ghanaians. The Institute is also ready to promote exchange programmes for students from Germany to visit Ghana to contribute to tourism development.

The Institute for Cultural Diplomacy (ICD) is an international, not-for profit, non-governmental organization with headquarters in Berlin, Germany. Founded in 1999, the ICD has grown to become one of Europe’s largest independent cultural exchange organizations, organizing programs that facilitate interaction between individuals of all cultural, academic, and professional backgrounds across the world.
