Private Legal Practitioner and Deputy Communications Director of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kwesi Botchway Jnr, has raised concerns about the reported value of cocaine seizures in Ghana since 2025, calling the figure alarming and a major national security concern.

Botchway claimed that the total value of cocaine seizures since 2025 stood at GH¢210 trillion in old Ghanaian cedis.

He used striking comparisons to illustrate the figure's magnitude, arguing that the amount could transform the country if put to productive use.

According to him, the money would be so enormous that it could fill an entire stadium. He further claimed that if the money were loaded onto articulated trucks, it would require approximately two million vehicles.

Botchway described the reported seizures as scandalous and questioned the effectiveness of Ghana's efforts to combat narcotics trafficking.

“This is scandalous, deeply troubling, and raises serious questions about the state of our national security and the fight against narcotics trafficking," he said.

He called on the relevant authorities to explain the scale of the seizures and the circumstances.

“Ghanaians deserve answers!" he stressed.
