President John Dramani Mahama has announced that seven companies have been shortlisted to partner with the Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority (GPHA) in developing the proposed Keta Port in the Volta Region.
The companies were selected from 47 firms that expressed interest in becoming strategic investors in the project.
The selection followed a due diligence process, with the seven companies expected to move to the next stage of discussions on the port’s development.

The proposed Keta Port is expected to support economic activities in the Volta Region by creating opportunities for businesses, trade and employment.
Speaking at the 2026 Hogbetsotso Festival on Saturday, November 7, 2926, Mahama said the next steps would involve completing the project designs and securing funding to allow construction to begin.
“Your Majesty, to update you on the status of the port, I’m pleased to announce that 47 companies submitted expressions of interest in partnering with Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority as the strategic partners for the port’s development,” he said.
“Due diligence has been conducted, and this has been shortlisted to seven companies," he added.
Mahama also disclosed that work on the administration block for the proposed port, which was started under the previous administration, is expected to be completed by the end of the first quarter of 2027.
