'Law school hasn't changed him' – Paul Yandoh slams Sam George over military confrontation

Former New Patriotic Party (NPP) Ashanti Regional Communications Director, Paul Yandoh, has taken a swipe at the Minister of Communication, Digital Technology and Innovation, Samuel Nartey George over his handling of the recent confrontation with a military officer in Ningo-Prampram.

Yandoh said the minister's public outburst was excessive and questioned whether his recent legal education had influenced his approach to handling disputes.

Speaking about the incident on Wontumi TV on November 6, 2026, he wondered why Sam George, who recently graduated from law school, would threaten to deal with a military officer through what he described as the “law of the streets”.

“Is he not the same person who recently graduated from law school? So how did he say he was going to deal with the soldier with the law on the streets?” he questioned.

Yandoh said he had expected the minister's legal education to bring about a change in his conduct but believed his reaction suggested otherwise.

“I thought law school would change him, but that is not the case. I am not sure he finished law school because he is still behaving like the old Sam George who had not attended law school,” he added.

Sam George, who is also the Member of Parliament for Ningo-Prampram, came under public scrutiny after confronting Lieutenant Albert Goh over a military operation in his constituency.

The minister accused the officer and other soldiers of seizing residents' trucks without lawful authority and mistreating community members during an operation at a sand-winning site.

He described the alleged conduct as akin to armed robbery, called for the officer's dismissal and warned that soldiers who returned to brutalise residents would face the “law of the streets”.

On November 4, 2026, Sam George met the Defence Minister, the Chief of Defence Staff and the three Service Commanders following the controversy.

He subsequently clarified that his comments were directed at the conduct of the personnel involved and were not intended as an attack on the Ghana Armed Forces as an institution.

The Chief of Defence Staff also committed to investigating the disputed operation.
