Ghanaian striker Prince Kwabena Adu has been in blistering form ahead of the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers scheduled for November 2026.

The striker, who sustained an injury in the early stages of the season, struggled to feature regularly for his side as the club focused on his recovery to avoid aggravating the injury.

However, after making a full recovery, Adu has scored three goals in his last three appearances for Viktoria Plzeň across domestic league and European competitions.

His latest goal came against Lillestrøm in the UEFA Europa League, when he opened the scoring in the early stages of the game to extend his goalscoring run.

His impressive form comes at a crucial time for Ghana, who need victories to revive their qualification hopes. Adu missed the previous matches against The Gambia and Côte d'Ivoire.

The Black Stars will face Somalia in a double-header on Matchdays Three and Four as they seek to revive their qualification campaign following a disappointing start. Ghana lost their opening two matches, suffering a 2-0 defeat to Côte d'Ivoire in Bouaké before losing 4-2 to The Gambia at the Accra Sports Stadium.

The poor results led to head coach Carlos Queiroz's resignation, prompting the Ghana Football Association (GFA) and the Ministry of Sports and Recreation to begin searching for a new substantive manager.

Kim Lars Björkegren was subsequently appointed to lead the team, with Ibrahim Tanko and Godwin Attram serving as assistant coaches. Former Black Stars goalkeeper Fatawu Dauda has also been appointed goalkeepers' trainer.

The first match against Somalia is scheduled for Thursday, November 12, with the return fixture set for November 16.
