A 29-year-old woman, Josephine Asare, has appeared on Lawson Afisem, a domestic dispute resolution programme on Lawson TV, seeking a DNA test to establish the paternity of her 12-year-old daughter.

According to Josephine, she suspects that a man identified as Figo, with whom she allegedly had a sexual encounter about 13 years ago, could be the biological father of the child.

Speaking on the programme on November 5, 2026, Josephine recounted how she allegedly became involved in a sexual encounter with Figo following a GH¢100 bet between him and his late friend Elolo.

According to her, she was 16 years old at the time and had gone to a mobile money outlet at Lapaz in Accra when she encountered Figo arguing with his friend over his ability to have sex with a woman continuously for one hour.

She explained that the two friends placed a GH¢100 bet, with Figo insisting that he could last for an hour during sexual intercourse. The agreement was that he would win his friend's GH¢100 if he succeeded but would lose the same amount if he failed.

Josephine said the two men approached her and asked whether she would agree to be the woman involved in the bet. She claimed she accepted the offer because she was hungry and needed money at the time.

Recounting the incident, she said, "When I got to the mobile money joint, Figo was arguing with his late friend that he could have sex with a woman continuously for one hour. His friend said he could not, so they decided to bet GH¢100 on it. They asked me if I would agree to have sex with him for the bet but because I was hungry, I agreed.

She added, "We then went to his house and during the first round, he lasted less than five minutes and ejaculated inside me. I became angry with him but he told me that the first round was usually like that and suggested we go for a second round, during which he claimed he could last longer. However, during the second round, he also lasted less than 10 minutes and ejaculated inside me," she narrated.

Josephine further disclosed that she was dating another man at the time and discovered she was pregnant approximately three months after the encounter.

She said her then-boyfriend initially accepted the pregnancy but she continued to have doubts about the child's paternity.

According to her, she once jokingly told her boyfriend that she believed the child was not his because the girl did not resemble him. The comment reportedly created tension between them, eventually leading him to stop taking responsibility for the child.

Josephine added that about six years later, she encountered Figo with her daughter and noticed what she described as a striking resemblance between them.

She said she subsequently informed Figo that the child could be his but he allegedly rejected the claim.

She further claimed that she had made several attempts to visit Figo at his matrimonial home to discuss the matter and arrange a DNA test but he had refused to cooperate.

After years of unsuccessful attempts to resolve the issue, Josephine decided to bring the matter before Lawson Afisem in the hope of establishing the child's biological father.

When contacted during the programme, Figo expressed his willingness to undergo a DNA test to determine whether he is the child's biological father.

He, however, stated that if the test proves he is not the father, he would take Josephine to court. On the other hand, if the results confirm his paternity, he pledged to take responsibility for the child.
