The suspects, comprising two men and a woman from Syria, Tunisia and Lebanon, were arrested in separate operations in Accra. Two were picked up earlier in the day, while the third was arrested at about 5:00 p.m.
The report said the three are being investigated over their alleged roles in the shipment and possible links to a wider international drug trafficking network.
The investigation follows the arrest of a Syrian man at Beirut’s Rafic Hariri International Airport on Saturday, October 31, after he arrived from Accra with cocaine concealed in two suitcases.
Lebanese Customs officials reportedly found 40 packages containing 46.7 kilogrammes of the substance during a search of his luggage.
The cocaine had allegedly been concealed using special packaging and insulation materials to avoid detection by scanning equipment.
The latest arrests are expected to help investigators establish how the drugs left Ghana and identify other individuals who may have been involved in the shipment.
