Ghana’s Ambassador to the United States, Victor Smith, has disclosed plans to engage major American companies, including Boeing and Amazon, to explore investment opportunities and create jobs in the country.

He said discussions with Boeing would focus on how the aircraft manufacturer could support efforts to revive Ghana’s national airline and help it return to the skies.

Speaking in an interview with Channel One TV on Monday, November 2, 2026, Smith said he expected to meet representatives of Boeing in the coming days to discuss possible areas of partnership.

“I can confess to you that in the coming few days, I am coming in with Boeing Aircraft Manufacturer to discuss with us how best they can get our national airline to go back into the sky,” he said.

According to the ambassador, reviving the national airline would create employment opportunities for many young Ghanaians and professionals in the aviation industry.

He explained that the airline could provide jobs for engineers, pilots, air hostesses, catering officers and other workers, while also helping Ghana retain skilled aviation professionals who might otherwise seek opportunities abroad.

“Engineers will not have to leave to go to another country. We will have young people becoming air hostesses, pilots, catering officers and counter officials. They will be creating jobs for them,” he said.

Smith also revealed that he was engaging Amazon, one of the largest corporations in the United States, to explore possible areas of cooperation with Ghana.

He said the company had already met President John Dramani Mahama during the United Nations General Assembly, where discussions were held on how it could support Ghana’s development.

The ambassador further mentioned Microsoft as another major American technology company that had held high-level discussions with the President on possible ways to support Ghana’s development.

Smith said attracting major international companies to invest in Ghana would remain a key part of his work as ambassador.

“I am talking to Amazon, which is one of the biggest corporations in America, and we will try and get them to also partner with us,” he said.
