Black Stars interim assistant coach Ibrahim Tanko has stated that player selection for Ghana’s upcoming double-header against Somalia in the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers will be based on quality and the ability to help the team, rather than whether a player competes locally or abroad.
Tanko stressed that the technical team is focused on identifying the best available players to strengthen the national team, regardless of the league in which they play.

“We are looking at the best players that can help Ghana. That’s it,” he said.
He added that the technical team would have no hesitation in selecting several players from the Ghana Premier League if they are considered good enough to contribute to the Black Stars.
“If local players, ten local players, we think they can help, why not?” Tanko added.
"We are looking at the best players that can help us."
