The Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod) has generated US$1.011 billion in foreign exchange from its artisanal and small-scale mining (ASM) gold trade operations in October 2026.

In a statement released on Monday, November 2, 2026, and posted on its official X account, GoldBod said the entire amount was sold to authorised commercial banks through its GoldBod GoFX platform to support stability in the foreign exchange market.

“The full amount of foreign exchange generated – US$1.011 billion – was sold to authorised commercial banks on the GoldBod GoFX platform to support FX market stability in the month of October,” the Board stated.

According to GoldBod, the transactions were conducted under its approved Foreign Exchange Sales and Intermediation Framework to ensure transparency, fairness and regulatory compliance.

The Board further projected that it would generate US$1.2 billion in foreign exchange from its ASM gold trade operations in November 2026, with US$800 million expected to be made available to commercial banks.

The projection represents an increase of about 18.7 percent over the amount generated in October, if achieved.

GoldBod said the expected foreign exchange proceeds would be channelled through the approved framework, with a portion made available to commercial banks to support their foreign exchange needs.

The Board also reiterated its commitment to supporting the Bank of Ghana's foreign reserve accumulation efforts under the Ghana Accelerated National Reserve Accumulation Policy (GANRAP).

The foreign exchange generated through the ASM gold trade is expected to contribute to the supply of foreign currency in the formal market. Making more foreign exchange available to commercial banks can also help meet demand from businesses and other customers who require foreign currency for legitimate transactions.
