Former Black Stars head coach Otto Addo has reportedly taken his contractual dispute with the Ghana Football Association (GFA) to FIFA following the termination of his contract in March 2026.

Addo’s move comes seven months after the GFA ended his second spell in charge of the national team, bringing his tenure to an abrupt conclusion just 72 days before the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

The decision followed Ghana’s disappointing run of results, including a humiliating 5-1 defeat to Austria and a 2-1 loss to Germany in pre-tournament international friendlies.

The GFA announced that it had parted ways with the 50-year-old coach with immediate effect.

Addo, who guided Ghana to qualification for the 2026 World Cup, reportedly had approximately 10 months remaining on his contract at the time of his dismissal.

Reports at the time suggested that the former Borussia Dortmund talent coach was entitled to compensation estimated at $500,000, although the GFA did not officially confirm the figure.

The coach had also publicly questioned the circumstances surrounding his departure.

In an interview with German publication 11Freunde in July 2026, Addo said he never understood the decision, arguing that expectations from GFA president Kurt Okraku were too high.

His reported decision to approach FIFA could open another contractual dispute for the GFA, which has previously faced compensation claims from dismissed national team coaches.

Former coach Milovan Rajevac, for instance, successfully pursued the association at FIFA, resulting in a reported $117,000 settlement.
