Minister of Trade, Agribusiness and Industry Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare has got Burkina Faso leader Captain Ibrahim Traoré, and other officials laughing after an attempt to address a gathering in French did not go as expected.

In a video shared by Diplomatic Times Ghana on Facebook on October 30, 2026, the minister is seen addressing dignitaries at the International Arts and Handicrafts Trade Show of Ouagadougou (SIAO).
The event was attended by Traoré and other high-ranking officials from Burkina Faso, who were seated at the venue as the Ghanaian minister took the podium.

Her attempt to greet the gathering in French appeared to amuse the audience, with Traoré and other officials breaking into laughter.

Reacting to their response, Ofosu-Adjare explained that she had spent the previous two days practising her French speech ahead of the event.
“Good morning to you all. I have been practicing this for the past two days, trying to make it as close as possible,” she said.

The Ouagadougou International Handicrafts Fair is a platform that showcases Africa’s rich cultural heritage, traditional craftsmanship, creativity, and entrepreneurial potential.
About 200 exhibitors from Ghana are expected to showcase Ghanaian arts and handicraft products at the 10-day event.
