Winnifred Mawudeku, sister of Ghana Football Association (GFA) president Kurt Okraku, has detailed how she secured her appointment as Director of the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence, revealing that she waited a year after applying before being invited for an interview.

Talking to Sporty FM, Mawudeku explained that she came across an advertisement for the position on the GFA website and decided to follow the recruitment process by submitting an application.

However, after completing the application, she heard nothing from the Association for a year and had almost forgotten about it before receiving a call inviting her for an interview.

“I saw that the position for the Directorship of the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence had been advertised on the GFA website. I went online, followed the process and put in my application. It was after a year that I was called for an interview,” she said.

She further disclosed that the interview involved a panel assessment on various issues, during which she was required to make a presentation outlining her plans for managing the facility.

“I had completely forgotten about my application, then one day I got a call that I was supposed to come for an interview at the GFA. A panel interviewed me on various issues, and I made a PowerPoint presentation on how I was going to manage the place, and they were so impressed,” she added.

Mawudeku also described her current role as the least challenging job she has undertaken in her career, although she acknowledged that it comes with significant demands.

“Working at the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence is the least challenging job I’ve had in my career, but it’s a demanding job, and it requires strategy to achieve the set goals,” she stated.

Her account comes amid public interest in her appointment, given her relationship with the GFA president.

She has previously maintained that Kurt Okraku played no role in securing her the position.
