The Ghana Police Service has launched investigations into the gruesome murder of two persons, identified as Irene Atuguba and George Atuguba, at NTHC Estate, Sakumono, in the Greater Accra Region.
The two were reportedly found dead in a pool of blood at their residence on Friday, October 30, 2026, after the Sakumono District Police Command received information about the incident and dispatched officers to the scene.
Here is what we know so far about the gruesome murder:
Who were the victims?
The victims of the incident have been identified as Irene Atuguba, a 47-year-old skincare expert, and George Atuguba, 57.
Irene Atuguba was the Chief Executive Officer and founder of Kussa Shea Bliss, a skincare brand.
She was a skincare expert and advocate for the use of shea butter, and had made several appearances on health-related television programmes, particularly on UTV, where she shared her knowledge and expertise.
Her uncle, George Atuguba, was the second victim in the incident.
Alleged motive:
According to preliminary police investigations, the incident may have been triggered by a financial dispute involving George Atuguba, who had allegedly borrowed GH¢500,000 from a suspect but failed to repay the amount.
The police said the principal suspect, identified as Samuel Christopher Osei Anto, reportedly visited the residence of the deceased with a woman identified as Beatrice Mumuni, 47, on the morning of the incident to demand repayment.
A misunderstanding allegedly ensued during the confrontation, during which Osei Anto reportedly shot and killed George Atuguba and his niece, Irene Atuguba.
The two victims were subsequently rushed to the hospital, where they were pronounced dead by a medical officer. Their bodies were later deposited at the Police Hospital Mortuary for preservation and autopsy.
