The Judicial Service of Ghana has partnered with artificial intelligence (AI) startup Kwame AI Incorporated to introduce technology-driven tools aimed at improving legal research, document preparation and the overall administration of justice.
The collaboration will see judges, magistrates and designated members of the Judicial Service use Eskwai, an AI-powered legal research platform, to support various aspects of their judicial duties.
Kwame AI Incorporated developed the platform to enhance the work of legal professionals by providing access to a comprehensive database of case law, legislation, user-uploaded documents and online resources.
Through Eskwai, judges and magistrates can conduct legal research, draft court-related documents and review legal materials, potentially reducing the time spent on routine tasks and improving efficiency in the judicial system.
As part of the partnership, judges and magistrates have already received training on how to use the platform, also known as Legal AI, to support their work.
The initiative forms part of efforts by the Judicial Service to leverage emerging technologies to improve productivity, streamline judicial processes and strengthen the delivery of justice in Ghana.
While the platform is expected to provide technological assistance to judicial officers, its introduction also places artificial intelligence increasingly within the country's legal landscape.
