A suspected illegal mining operator has unleashed curses on soldiers after they allegedly set his motorbike on fire during an anti-galamsey operation.

In a video circulating on social media and sighted by GhanaWeb on Friday, October 30, 2026, the man is heard expressing anger over the destruction of his motorbike while insisting that he could easily afford to replace it.

“That’s my motorbike that the soldiers have set on fire. I can buy another one after working for one week, but God will punish you all and your children,” he said.

The man’s comments suggest that he was unfazed by the loss of the motorbike, although he appeared displeased with the soldiers’ actions.

The video, which has surfaced amid ongoing efforts to clamp down on illegal mining, captures the man reacting to the destruction of the motorcycle.

Illegal mining, popularly known as galamsey, remains a major concern in Ghana because of its impact on water bodies, forest reserves and farmlands.

Security personnel have been involved in operations aimed at curbing the practice, including efforts to disrupt activities and seize equipment used by suspected illegal miners.

However, the circumstances surrounding the incident, including the location of the operation and the specific details leading to the burning of the motorbike, remain unclear.
