A Ghanaian couple has reportedly been robbed at gunpoint by four masked men in the Bronx, New York, in the United States of America, according to a myjoyonline.com news report.

The victims, a 73-year-old man and his 61-year-old wife, were reportedly attacked in the early hours of Monday, October 26, 2026, while waiting at a bus stop on Gun Hill Road.

According to their daughter, Emelia Sabah, her father routinely accompanies her mother to the bus stop every weekday morning to ensure she gets to work safely.

However, their usual morning routine turned violent when four masked individuals riding motorcycles allegedly ambushed them shortly before 5 a.m.

The attackers, who were reportedly armed, assaulted the elderly couple before making away with the woman's handbag containing $100 in cash, a debit card and her medication.

Narrating the incident, Sabah said two of the suspects attacked her father while the other two assaulted her mother, threatening her with a gun.

"They hit her stomach, and then she said they pointed the gun at her stomach and hit her mouth with the gun," she recounted.

"Two of them went to my dad with a gun, beat my dad up, and then the other two went to her to beat her up with a gun, and she was screaming," she added.

Sabah expressed shock and anger over the attack, questioning why young people would resort to violence and robbery instead of engaging in legitimate work.

"As young as you people are, like, you have the strength to go out and do something, get your own money," she said.

She disclosed that her mother, who works as a home attendant and has 11 grandchildren, has been left traumatised by the incident and is now afraid to use public transportation.

"Seeing my mom going through that is a very bad experience," Sabah said.

The New York Police Department (NYPD) has launched investigations into the robbery and is searching for the four suspects believed to have carried out the attack.
