Trasacco has become a familiar name in Ghana’s luxury real estate market, with developments such as Trasacco Valley and Villaggio Vista helping establish its reputation for high-end residential property.
Over the years, however, the business has grown beyond housing into a wider network of companies involved in construction, manufacturing and other sectors of the economy.
Behind that expansion is Ernesto Taricone, an Italian-born civil engineer and entrepreneur who came to Ghana in 1968 with his father and two brothers.
This GhanaWeb article introduces readers to the man behind the iconic real estate developments in the country.
Ernesto Taricone's business journey began with a family venture.
His father, Baron Fiore Taricone, had acquired land and established businesses in Ghana, including ventures connected to timber and furniture.
After his father’s death in 1979, Ernesto and his surviving brother continued the family’s business interests, with Ernesto eventually taking a leading role in expanding the enterprise.

In the 1990s, Taricone pursued property development in an area that was then considered remote by some observers. The project was named after Trasacco, a town associated with his family’s origins in Italy.
The development helped establish the Trasacco name in Ghana’s property market and laid the foundation for the expansion of its real estate operations. The group subsequently became associated with other prominent residential developments, including Villaggio Primavera and Villaggio Vista, as well as additional high-rise residential projects in Accra.
These developments helped strengthen the company’s presence in the upper end of the housing market, where location, design, construction quality and supporting amenities are important selling points.
Trasacco’s property portfolio also extends beyond residential estates. Its development interests include commercial buildings and office projects.
Taricone’s wealth has attracted attention, with some online publications estimating his net worth at $1.3 billion or more.
