The Member of Parliament for Ofoase-Ayirebi, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, has questioned how many Ghanaians have benefited from the government’s Women’s Development Bank and One Million Coders Programme.
He is demanding answers on how much has been spent on the two initiatives, how many people have benefited and whether the programmes are delivering the results promised to Ghanaians.
In a statement sighted by GhanaWeb Business, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) MP said the government must demonstrate that its promises are making a tangible difference in the lives of women and young people.
He explained that the Women’s Development Bank was introduced to provide affordable loans to women, particularly traders, entrepreneurs and small business owners, to help them grow their businesses.
However, he questioned the progress made with the initiative and how many women had received financial support.

Oppong Nkrumah wants the government to disclose how much money has been committed to the bank, whether it is fully operational and when women can begin accessing its services.
He said women who were promised affordable loans deserved clear answers on when and how they could benefit from the programme.
Turning to the One Million Coders Programme, the MP questioned how many young Ghanaians had received digital skills training and secured jobs after completing the programme.
He noted that the initiative was introduced to equip young people with coding and other technology-related skills to improve their employment prospects.
According to him, the government must provide details on the number of people trained, the amount spent and the jobs created through the programme.
He maintained that announcing programmes was not enough, stressing that Ghanaians must see practical results from the government’s commitments.
He added that providing these details would enable Parliament and the public to assess whether the two initiatives were achieving their objectives or required further improvements.

Oppong Nkrumah urged the government to provide a comprehensive account of both programmes to ensure transparency and accountability in the use of public resources.
