Ghanaian-born conservative Christian blogger Samuel Sey, who has publicly defended US President Donald Trump’s mass deportation policies, has reportedly been arrested and detained by US immigration authorities in Ohio.

The 39-year-old writer, known for his strong support of US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), was booked into the Butler County Jail, north of Cincinnati, shortly after 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday, October 21, 2026.

According to reports by The Roys Report and other US media outlets, jail records showed that Sey remained in custody as of Friday, October 23, with his detention status listed as “Hold for ICE.”

The circumstances surrounding his arrest remain unclear, as no criminal charges were listed against him in the publicly available booking records.

Sey's detention has attracted attention due to his outspoken support for President Trump's immigration crackdown, particularly his repeated calls for the deportation of undocumented immigrants.

Born in Ghana, Sey relocated to Canada in the 1990s before moving to the United States in 2022 to marry a woman living in Ohio.

He had previously disclosed that he did not possess permanent residency status in the United States and was not authorised to work in the country.

Despite his immigration situation, Sey continued to write and contribute to several conservative Christian and political platforms, including The Daily Wire, The Blaze, Christian Post and Turning Point USA.

Over the years, he has become known for his commentary on Christianity, race, immigration and American politics.

In one of his articles defending Trump's deportation policies, Sey argued that deporting undocumented immigrants was consistent with Christian teachings.

"Christian ethics do not denounce deportations. They demand it," he wrote, maintaining that immigration laws must be enforced.
