The UEFA Champions League delivered another thrilling night of football on Wednesday, October 21, with Arsenal rescuing a point against Bayern Munich, Como dismantling Manchester United, and Real Madrid cruising to victory.
Arsenal fight back to hold Bayern
Arsenal produced a resilient performance to secure a 2-2 draw against Bayern Munich at the Allianz Arena.
The Gunners took the lead through Eberechi Eze, who replaced the injured Bukayo Saka, before Alphonso Davies equalised for the German champions.
Harry Kane subsequently put Bayern ahead from the penalty spot after Jurrien Timber handled the ball, leaving Arsenal facing defeat.
However, Declan Rice struck in the 82nd minute to rescue a point for Mikel Arteta’s side following an excellent attacking move involving Noni Madueke and Viktor Gyökeres.
Como embarrass Manchester United
Manchester United endured a miserable evening in Italy, suffering a 4-1 defeat against Como.
Nico Paz opened the scoring early before Anastasios Douvikas doubled the hosts’ advantage shortly after the restart.
Paz added his second of the night to put Como firmly in control, while defender Jacobo Ramón headed home the fourth.
Joshua Zirkzee scored a late consolation for United, but it did little to soften the blow for Michael Carrick’s side.
The result intensified the scrutiny surrounding United, who struggled to cope with Como’s intensity and attacking quality under Cesc Fàbregas.
Real Madrid cruise as Galatasaray shine
Real Madrid delivered another statement performance, defeating RB Leipzig 4-1. Goals from Bernardo Silva, Arda Güler, Kylian Mbappé and Yan Diomande sealed an emphatic victory for the Spanish giants.
Galatasaray also impressed, beating Lille 4-2 away from home in an entertaining encounter.
Elsewhere, Aston Villa defeated Viking 3-1, while Club Brugge recorded a convincing 3-0 win over Lens.
Sporting CP suffered a surprise 3-2 home defeat against LASK, and Inter Milan edged Shakhtar Donetsk 1-0.
